RISE Collaborative serves entrepreneurs, startups, and existing businesses in Brunswick County, Virginia by delivering training, events, and networking opportunities.
RISE Collaborative is supported by a cross-organizational team of local and regional partners, including the Brunswick County Department of Economic Development, the IDA of Brunswick County, the SOVA Innovation Hub, the Longwood Small Business Development Center (LSBDC), Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC), and the Southside Planning District Commission (SPDC). January 2022: Brunswick County Business Innovation Initiative launches
The IDA of Brunswick County received a 2022 Business District Resurgence grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The IDA of Brunswick is partnering with the Brunswick County Department of Economic Development to provide SWaM retail merchants with technical assistance and mentoring, joint marketing opportunities, and the development of a shared e-commerce platform for Brunswick County merchants and makers, with an emphasis on the Town of Lawrenceville. To provide additional impact, this project will leverage existing entrepreneurial initiatives, including RISE Collaborative and the Metropolitan Business League (MBL).
June 2021: RISE Collaborative and Brunswick County host minority entrepreneur info session.
March 2021: SOVA Innovation Hub and Longwood University receive funding to launch RISE Collaborative
January 2020: SOVA Innovation Hub is created by MBC and Microsoft with a focus on serving the Microsoft TechSpark region, which includes Brunswick County, VA.
2018-2019 Brunswick County participated in the development of the GOVA R3 EII strategy, which was facilitated by Longwood University and Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation.
