A Legacy of Leadership: Stanley Jeffress

For more than 40 years, Stanley Jeffress led Jeffress Funeral Home, building a legacy of service and dedication to Halifax County. A graduate of VCU with a Bachelor’s in Business (1975) and John Tyler Community College with an Associate’s in Funeral Service & Mortuary Science, Jeffress combined his business acumen with deep compassion for the families he served.

Recognized as the 2022-23 Business Person of the Year by the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce, Jeffress has been a champion for the community. Jeff Francisco, in presenting the award, noted, “This individual has owned Jeffress Funeral Home for the last 43 years. He’s a true cheerleader for Halifax County, always willing to step up and do what it takes to make Halifax County a better place to work, live, and raise a family.”

Jeffress owned Jeffress Funeral Home alongside his wife, Wanda Bostick Jeffress, who passed away in 2018. She served as vice-president and co-owner of the funeral home and was also an associate broker/agent with Realty Resource, Inc. Her contributions were invaluable in growing and sustaining the family business, ensuring it remained a trusted institution in the community.

Beyond his business, Mr. Jeffress has made an impact by serving on the Community Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center Board of Trustees, and as a past chair of the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce (2012-2013). His investments in downtown South Boston and membership in the South Boston Rotary Club reflect his commitment to the region.
